As an American you can not own a home her or a business but you can buy a condo like others have said get a sixty day visa come over and check things out before you make that big move i have lived her for 5 yrs now and have learned a lot sometime i ask my self what have i done. don't get me wrong the Philippines can be a nice place you have to learn how these people act and what they do also they will try anything to get your money so be very careful don't carry lots of money and don't leave you wallet in your back pocket get shorts that have buttons on the pockets and keep your money seoerate also your cell phone they will try to steal that also
