Sending more than 10k to philippines

I will be retired in April 2013 and moving to Iloilo or Antique province with my Filipina wife. I would like to know the best way to move enough money there to purchase a house and land, in my wifes name of course. Can I take it with me and declare it at customs. Any info would be appreciated.
