North Luzon Expedition

I have travelled to the Philippines many times. My wife is Filipina, we have been married for almost 38 years. We will be travelling to Angeles City next year for an extended stay. I will secure a vehicle and planning an excursion to the northern part of Luzon and back. My plan is to go up the west coast to the north end and then travel back the eastern side. Has anyone made a trip like this. This will be a leisurely trip, not in a hurry to get anywhere, just sight seeing and to see where the road leads me. I have driven in the PI before so I already know how hectic that is and the hazards involved. Just looking for any info on going north.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
