Hi everybody,
I'm very new to forums, particularly this one so please excuse me if I have missed anything.
I need some information or more so first hand knowledge of anyone who has lived in Australia all their lives and is now wanting to retire to the Philippines.
My current situation is that I am retired, or more specifically have been fortunate enough to generate some passive rental income from investments here in Australia. I am married with 3 young children, (8, 7 and 3). My wife is a naturalised Filipina and has lived in Australia since she was 5 years of age. I'm 35 years old and my wife is 32. She understands Filipino fluently. I don't particularly need to work however I would be open to doing some type of business to keep me doing something and occupied besides spending my time with all my family.
With the above in mind, I have researched and enquired with the Philippine Embassy in that my wife can is eligible for duel citizenship (Australian and Philippines) in addition to all my children. I don't think I am eligible for this however being married to her I would be considered for a special visa.
My questions would be:
I am wanting to move to Cebu - due to her family being there etc however am wanting to know specifically if anyone knows where a good location would be to buy a house, keeping in mind my children will need to attend school? I would like to send my children to the best school available. If anyone knows of any some names would be great.
Does anyone know of any reputable schools for children my age?
What would my living expenses be on a monthly basis with consideration that I will buy my house outright and have a anticipated budget of about $2000 AU per month give or take for utilities, food, schooling etc?
What other important factors do I need to consider which I have not mentioned?
I will be going to the Philippines first to speak with schools first hand and see locations and houses prior to moving. I just need some direction and information / advice from anyone who has walked these steps I'm planning on taking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, particularly anyone who has done this and knows what I need to expect.
Thanking you all in advance.
Regards,
Andrew
