cell phone rental/buy

Hi all,
I'm leaving the states and going to the Manila area in February for 3 weeks. Any advise about renting or buying a Android type of cellphone to use while there, then reselling/returning before leaving Manila? (Not sure if my Android (not unlocked) would work there)
