Traffic rules are over here seen as a recommendation and not as rule. This explains a lot on how people drive over here. It is a big city but a lot of people are not in a hurry to get somewhere.
Still the drivers over here in Davao are very courteous. If u want to make a u turn on the highway that is ok. People will wait till you do that and live goes on. In the northern hemisphere that could result in road rage.
Trucks and busses rule the road. Everybody stops for them and everybody is aware that they are the most dangerous. This is because when they are in an accident the driver just runs away. People with big cars like SUV’s are also treated with respect(cause they are rich) and most of them drive carefull cause they want to keep their car whole and pretty.
The different ways of honking. Like a couple of short honks says: hey watch out! I am passing by. 10 short honks after each other is saying hi to somebody. Long honks is calling another driver stupid and super long honks is considered very agresive. I did that once against a jeepney driver that blew me almost of the road. He looked at me in anger and started chasing me with his jeepney full of passengers.
To all the readers? What is the strangest situation on the roads that you have seen over here?
