Looking at living happily

Hi everyone
I am coming to the Philippines to see if this would be an ideal country to settle and find part time employment
I don't want to live in the city but need a smaller environment
Is it safe for a single female to live on her own or should I be looking at a share ?
I have a few years left before retirement and would appreciate any helpful advice you may have. Many thanks. Sue :) ??
