I have lived in 15 different countries in the past due to choice/work. I am now retired. I am currently living in Thailand. Been here for three years. Prior to this I lived 13 years in China. I have always liked everywhere I have lived. No culture shock. No problems adjusting. My current situation is that I have a retirement visa in Thailand , but with the military and the rules changing as they do I have been looking for a backup. I like the Philippines retirement rules....I also like the Philippines , although never lived there.I am 64 , single, never married. Not a novice at living in other countries. One question I have is for the police check for the retirement visa. I have not been in the U.S. for over 30 years. Getting a police check in Thailand is rather difficult . What is required for the Philippines?.I notice they say they need one. Would it be better to arrive there and stay on a short term visa , then have a police check done there and then apply? Or are there any services that provide help for a small fee with the retirement visa?.....Prior to moving to China my visa was arranged, and prior to moving to Thailand I obtained my retirement visa by using a law firm- but it was quite expensive . I would prefer not to have to spend that kind of funds again to obtain the visa , but I would like to have it in hand prior to going to Philippines, saves problems......does anyone have any suggestions......
