Getting in contact with home- methods!?

Hi gang - I will be moving to the PH over the winter from Canada . Could someone tell me what their best solution to phone home is and cheapest? I have an elderly mother who I want to keep in regular contact with . She is OK with Skype and computers ... but just so -so . I would rather just make a phone call to her over her land line ....any ideas out there ? ...thanks in advance ! J.
