Mindanoa - a place to live ?

I made a Facebook friend who lives in Tacurong in Sultan Kudurat and have susequently made a lot more in that area. My friends say there is no trouble with terrorists there. I am 56 and want to retire there on £300 private pension per month living simply. Has anyone done similar there and could you advise as to safety and whether that amount to live on is enough ?
