I will be traveling to the Philippines frequently on business. I'm very familiar with the Philippines because I lived there for over a year doing humanitarian service back in 2010.
When I returned last fall, I rented a car through National Car at the MNL airport and it was a horrible experience. When I received the car it was dirty and only had a quarter tank of gas. When I returned the car the same employee wiped away the dirt that was there from the beginning and blamed a scratch on me that was pre-existing. He then drove me to two separate ATMs (the first was broken) in order to have me pay him under the table and threatened to make me miss the flight if I wanted to pay for it the "right way" through the company.
With all of that said - I'm hoping you can advise me on a reputable car rental company (pickup at MNL aiport) that I can trust to not take advantage of me. I can speak tagalog and I'm familiar with the scams.
My company will pay for a driver to take me all of the Phils but since i"m spending weekends there it might be nice to have a rental from time to time for added freedom.
