Lifestyle(Davao+Cebu?

I am a single 61 year old guy that is considering retiring and looking at renting in Cebu or Davao and giving the Philippines a chance at least in the short run. What would be needed for a middle class lifestyle from a USA perspective. I only need a 2 bedroom, and one bath rental and can eat pretty local. Is $2,500 a month USA reasonable? Thanks in advance for your assistance. I will not need lots of important products, but will need internet etc...
