There are too many things to consider for a formula to be applicable in deciding what age is appropriate. It's certainly a lot more acceptable in Asia (definitely in the Philippines) than most places in North America. If you don't look like a compatible couple in the U.S. people will talk. It will definitely put undue stress on your relationship. In the Philippines it's clearly acceptable that life financial security is much more important than looking like a nice couple (whether it be expat/Filipina or Filipino/Filipina marriages) Parents, relatives and all Filipinos in general understand this and are much more accepting to age gap relationships. Now if for health reasons or physical characteristic reasons you don't look compatible maybe it's a good idea not to put your wife in situations very often where when seen together people would do a lot of talking or the local stud will be eyeing their prey. I'm back in New York state right now in a large age gap relationship. So far everything is great. My wife is great. It gives me added incentive to stay healthy and in relatively in good shape for my relationship and my 6 year old son. I plan to move back to the Philippines permanently within the next 5-7 years.
