My Move to the Philippians

New to the forum and appreciate and suggestions and comments.

I will be retiring at the end-of-the-year and going to retire in the Philippians once I get myself organized. I am planning at least 1-trip back for boots on the ground fact finding mission before I relocate. A little about myself, 58 years old, single, planning on only renting a place. I am only familiar with the Clark/Angeles area so will live there for awhile and will explore other locations.

Curious, for those who have made the move is there any belongings you wished you would have shipped that you didn’t and those items you did ship that you didn’t need? My original plan was just my clothes and personal belongings. Then buying anything I would need to setup a household once in-country.

Medical Care. I am retired U.S. Air Force and would like to hear from those retired military expats regarding using Tricare (I think it’s possible) and any other military benefits that I could possibly use.

Lastly and most important. I want to bring my dog. Good or bad idea? Not only am I concerned with the long plane trip but if I can get good vet care and grooming in the Philippians.

Thanks in Advance!! Mike
