Life in Philippines dangerous?

Even though in all my years in the Philippines I have never been held up or robbed in my home, I'm not saying the Philippines is not dangerous. I've had guns pulled on me. I've been physically attacked, but generally if you are careful and use common sense the Philippines does not have to be a dangerous place. Just be smart and do not put yourself in bad situations. If you do get into a confrontational situation, lower your pride and walk away to live another day. Living in the Philippines is not for the innocent or the naïve. Filipinos generally have memories like an elephant and are very vengeful.
