My husband and I are moving to Quezon City in April with our two young children (6 months and 2 years). We’re moving for my work, but my company has agreed to also hire my husband to work on the project. As a result, we will need dependable childcare for our two children.
My goal is to find an experienced caregiver who with help my children develop through educational activities, not just babysit them.
I’ve done a lot of reading (including searching posts in this forum) on hiring a Yaya and haven’t found any really good advice other than “hire family/someone you know” or “get personal referrals”. We don’t know anyone in the Philippines, so neither of those are viable options for us.
I understand there are placement agencies, but know they are often criticized haven’t found any legitimate recommendations for one.
Has anyone here actually gone through the process of hiring a Yaya? What is your advice for finding one when you have no personal contacts? How do you vet a potential Yaya?
I work for a smaller company with a start-up feel, not a major corporation that already has offices in Manila and a process or resources to help their employees get settled. We’ll be our company’s pioneers in this effort.
