Dual Citizenship

My wife is going to retire this September three months before I do, she wants to fly to the Philippines and find a place for us to stay, she will come back in December. My question is, since she has dual citizenship should she use her Philippine passport on arrival in Manila to avoid any hassles with a 3 month stay? I'm not sure if her Philippine passport is even current.
