Dual citizenship

I heard that an American citizen can apply for dual citizenship in the Philippines. Wondering if this is true or not. Anyone having knowledge on this topic is greatly appreciated as I will be retiring there next year pretty much for good. Already own a house and condo with my wife of 25 years in Panglao and Talisay.
