Thailand forcing Expats out - Hello PI

Thailand's government is passing legislation that requires expats to have health insurance that is not necessary. Essentially requiring expats to purchase in-patient coverage when most expats living here can afford to pay out of pocket.
Without getting into the details, it's a showstopper for me. I have insurance but as I age the Thai health insurance will become unaffordable and I'll be using money that I have to support my family diverted to enrich Thai insurance companies. And that's it for me. I'm done and looking for other options.

So. I'm an ex-US military member with an honorable discharge. I've spent time in the PI which is why it's my choice to land in. I have more than adequate funds to support myself.

So, here I am. I've been to Luzon. Liked it, but open to settling elsewhere. I like mountains, but I like beaches and surf. I'm old but still active. Where do I start?
