The Philippines experience

On this forum you'll be receiving information from many expats who have various degrees of experience. You can get information from a 79 year old who has only lived in the Philippines in his 70's. Has had minimal exposure to the real life on the streets and though out the country. He rarely travels outside his controlled environment. One like that may spend 20 hours a day on the internet spitting out things he's read or heard. It's good information if your lifestyle matches that kind of life. If you are healthier maybe younger and want to understand and experience what real life is like in the Philippines, listen to people who actually travelled throughout the country, associate with Filipinos (Rotary Clubs, social events, etc) and then you can understand the mentality and culture of the average Filipino. It's not the same looking out from a controlled bubble. Expats who only associate with bar girls, uneducated Filipinas with bad morals (smoke, drink, gamble, take drugs), do not understand what it's really like living in the real world Philippines. As an expat you are already immediately in the upper middle class. You need to understand how people in that social class act and think.
