So i have met a amazing Filapino and currently here in Davao spending our first xmas together and i proposed on xmas day and she said yes!
so now we have been talking about retirement and moving here and fingers crossed in the next 2/3 years my business will be sold and i will have a nice lump sum to retire on and kiss the UK goodbye.
I am getting really confused reading all different things about buying houses and lands here, i know i cannot own land but i also see a lot of posts saying to put the house in my wifes name.
working out costs and taxes as we want children as well i think i have a grasp on all the usual costs as well as extras for health insurance, education etc.
what are the pros/cons to me buying a property here, we may buy a lot and build a house or just buy a lot & house already built? do i pay less tax having the property in her name? are there benefits? we are looking to buy the house/lot and not pay rent etc. as we should have the money to pay for it up front.
should i look at expat communities? are more local areas? this is my 7th visit to the philipinnes and i do love it here and lvoe here and we will marry in 2 years probably in HK with a honeymoon in Thailand before returning to stay here perm.
I have no baggage in the UK, no divorce, kids or anything and the only thing i will be bringing with me are the golf clubs lol! and i think i would apply for teh SRRV as i will be 45ish and have well over the $50k needed when i come to move here.
