Sending gifts

I have some friends in the Phils and want to ship some small gifts to them. Clothing and some everyday (inexpensive) jewelry. The recipients live in Davao, Gen. San. and near Tacloban.

Is it safe to send them via the US postal Service or is FedEx available for that?
