New Guy Questions

Hello. I just joined here because I've entertained the idea of moving to Philippines. Sorry if my questions have been covered in other posts, but my search came up empty.

My first concern is gaining employment there. I was medically retired from the army and receive $1200/mo. From what I've gathered that really isn't quite enough to live comfortably. Although, living comfortably is a relative term and I understand cost of living varies depending on where you settle down. I believe I'll need a job for extra income.

So, are the only real job prospects for expats primarily teaching English or working at some call center? Are there other options. I think a lot of it ties back in to location, more or different employment depending on location. But that could probably lead to another discussion.

This is just to get the ball rolling for me. I need to do more research here.

Any info or advice regarding gaining employment or the amount of income necessary to make ends meet (both depending on location) would be appreciated. Also, anything else that comes to mind after reading this would be good. Sorry for the long first post. Thanks
