The Philippines is a great country, I live there PT 6 months a year… but precautions have to be adhered to- safety , health and so on- this is NO Kansas Dorthy . Your health is but one.
Here is but one concern coming here:
Typhoid Warning - usually Fecal-oral transmission route
Most people in developed countries pick up typhoid bacteria while they're traveling. Developed countries are septic compared to 3 Ed world countries. Once they have been infected, they can spread it to others through the fecal-oral route, plus many other . During heavy rain and floods many people die from this Bacteria.
This means that Salmonella typhi is passed in the feces and sometimes in the urine of infected people. If you eat food that has been handled by someone who has typhoid fever and who hasn't washed carefully after using the toilet( common here ) , you can become infected. Also, so many other ways to get this sickness.
In developing countries, where typhoid fever is established like the Philippines, most people become infected by common drinking water. The bacteria may also spread through contaminated food and through direct contact with someone who is infected.
Typhoid carriers
Even after antibiotic treatment, a surprising number of people who recover from typhoid fever continue to harbor the bacteria. These people, known as chronic carriers, no longer have signs or symptoms of the disease themselves. However, they still shed the bacteria in their feces , breath, coughs, etc, and are capable of infecting others.
Malaria Dengue, GI track illnesses…. The list goes on.
If you come here - make sure you have ALL your shots and have one heck of a trained kit , including, antibiotics, anti fungal sand pain killers to name a few .
Be safe - Plan !
