Inquiring minds, Filipinos

Another characteristic of Filipinos is their inquiring minds. They like to ask personal questions, including questions regarding money. I guess to evaluate you, prejudge you for whatever the reason. Many reasons can be for bad intentions, others can just be cultural bad manors. I've learned the best response to give is "why are you asking"? That usually ends the conversation on that topic. Of course you can always say you can't afford to live in your own country. Those of you who want to be boastful, show off your assets or allow your wife or girlfriend to show off are putting a target on your back. So if you think the new top of the line expensive vehicle or giant TV that all your neighbors know about is a good thing, you have a lot to learn about living/surviving in the Philippines.
