My wife and I are preparing for our permanent move to Iloilo Province.
There are many things to do in preparation. The most difficult part is done. We have built the house in Pototan on the 25 acre family farm.
Now, the move. I need to sell my house. That seems easy, except I have a lot of conditions, including the buyer assuming my tenant's lease.
The 13a visa needs some work, with financial. records, background checks and confirmation of all our documents. Also, an interview at the Philippine consulate in New York. While I'm in New York, my wife and I will be opening a bank account with the Philippine National Bank. They have a branch in New York and one in Pototan.
In addition, I have all the traditional paper work to do on retirement with my pension, Social Security and Medicare.
My wife plans on leaving from JFK Airport in late October or early November to travel with our dog and cat. I will follow in January through LA to Manila. All the tickets are one way.
Anyway, that's the game plan, but as with any plan, we need to be prepared for bumps or obstacles along the road.
I welcome any advice from this blog.
Snowbound.
