Online additional Authentication

how do you folks do online business when most websites nowadays will require "login requires additional authentication. Please select your preference for receipt of a One Time Passcode. A Passcode will be delivered" if you select anything other then receiving a text you usually will not receive the unique code in time before the code expires in my recent experience

is this why I would need setup with VPN account and/or Google Voice ?
