My wife and are are preparing to go to our retirement home in Pototan, located about 30 minutes from Iloilo City, in the province of Iloilo.
I posted that we would bring our cat and dog, but our cat passed away two weeks ago. We sold our house outside of Boston to our niece (my wife's sister's daughter) and her husband. We will have a place to stay on our short visits back to the states and an address for our mail.
My wife will attempt to leave sometime in October with the dog and I will follow in December, just before Christmas. By the end of next week the diesel generator will be installed to cover the brown outs and blackouts in case of a storm. The workers finished the concrete and metal housing for the unit just today.
The farm is a family compound and consists of 10 Hectares, with 3 other family homes on it, Other than ours, each is inhabited by my wife's siblings and their families.
We settled on purchasing a Toyota Hilux. (kinda like a Tacoma). We figure that there already are 2 SUV's on the property so the 4 seater, small pick-up could come in handy for picking up fish, fuel, supplies or shopping.
I have to work until mid December to qualify for my tenth pension year, but for that, I'd be in the RP now.
I can hardly wait.
