For those who have shown some interest in my move to the Philippines, I can report on some very positive updates.
My wife and I built a beautiful home on her family property (10 Hectares) in Iloilo Province about 8 years ago. Over this past year, I have posted on this site some of my moving problems, and I have received some very helpful advice.
Moving my dog from Boston to Iloilo was no easy task. In a PM on this site, a member gave me his contact number and I followed his advice. I am happy to report that my Wife and our dog both arrived safely at our house in Iloilo Province this morning (11/13).
I purchased a brand-new Nissan Navara Calibre this past month. This also was not an easy chore. We needed to transfer the money out of our US bank account, to my sister-in-law's. since the cash was well above the $10,000 USD limit, All kinds of paperwork had to be filled out and exchanged, both here and there. My wife's family picked up the car yesterday and my wife sent me pictures this morning of the new pick-up truck on our property. Again, I received some advice on this site on purchasing the car and transferring the money. Thank you.
I will be wheels up, God willing, on Dec. 19 and will arrive at the farm on Dec. 21, just in time for a very festive Christmas with all my Filipino family.
Although I will retain a US residence and bank accounts, I plan on spending 10 or 11 months a year in the Philippines.
I like to describe myself as a Filipino trapped in an American body.
Again, thank you for all of your help and i will stay in touch through this blog.
