Smart SIM abroad

Hi,

My girlfriend is coming to Europe for a long term stay (more than 1 year). She is always loading/charging her Smart SIM every week in The Philippines.

How can she avoid that her number will be canceled if she is abroad? People at the Smart shop keep giving her different answers.

Is it as simple as to connect her phone to my WiFi at home and now and then send Whatsapp messages back to The Philippines with her Pinoy number, so that her phone number will not be canceled? So loading is not needed?

According to the Smart shop she can't charge her phone abroad and her Pinoy number therefor will be canceled after a few months.

I appreciate any kind of answer or suggestion.

Thanks,

Peter
