Customs and VPN

I will soon be moving to the Philippines. I have been trying to figure out what I can bring in my checked luggage. I want to bring my kitchen knives. They will be in a knife bag in my seabag. Does any one know if this is allowed?
Next question. I have a VPN. will I be able to watch college football with the VPN. I can either go through Dallas or LA. I plan on getting Starlink if the down load is to slow.
