SRRV vs Renewing a Tourist Visa

If our plan is to live in Manila as "home base" but travel frequently to other parts of Asia, would we be better off getting the SRRV or just renewing a tourist visa every couple of months? Our pensions will exceed the SRRV requirements, we are over 50 and we can afford to tie up the required deposit for SRRV. It seems like SRRV would be a bit more work up front, but then be a lot less hassle going forward. However, if we plan to leave Philippines every 25-45 days to visit other parts of Asia, maybe renewing a tourist visa will not be so bad.
