Expats most chosen area to live with kids

Now we are living in a pretty nice place.
We signed one year contract but, I dont know if is something normal here …we are in villas/ bungallows in a country place and there are many disgusting “visitors”…mices, little rats….

Is this normal here or shall we try to decline contract and leave??
