buying a house

I'm a US citizen married to a native Filipina. We want to buy a house. I understand that as a non-citizen I cannot own land, so it would have to be in her name or maybe some complicated arrangement. Anyone else done something similar? How did you work it out?
I'm not too worried about her leaving me and taking the house. Possible, I guess, even if our relationship is good now, maybe a year from now things will fall apart. But whatever. I'm more worried about basic legalities, and what happens when one of us dies. (Not to be morbid, but once of us is bound to die sooner or late. I'm older so odds are I'll die first, but you never know.)
