Lisbon area move for a young family

Hi Everyone,

so, we're a mid 30's couple with two amazing children of 2 and 4 years old.

We've thought of a move to Portugal a few times and as time goes on, the conversations become more serious.

We have an opportunity, whilst the children are of an age not to be too disrupted by the move, for me to move my job to one of our facilities in Lisbon.

We don't want the city life for the kids, something more quiet is required, but still close enough to all the modern day conveniences.

Both our kids have asthma issues, so Hospital locality is important, as is good international schooling and an area which is close to the coast and other facilities when we need them.

We don't really want to be more than 15mins drive from the beach, shops, restaurants etc...

A commute to work is fine with me. I already commute an hour to our facility in the UK, so I'm happy to do this in Portugal too. My wife won't be working, so ex-pat and community activities will be quite an important part of her day, taking kids to play groups and after school activities etc... as well as being able to make friends with people in similar situations.

Areas we're seeing pop up tend to be in Cascais and Lourinha. You seem to get alot more for your money in Lourinha at the sacrifice of a longer commute (about an hour).

We don't know either area yet, but just looking for some general advice for now based on criteria we've mentioned for our family.

Thanks in advance!

Steve.
