NHR - help getting this right

Hi there,

I'm Fiona, a British national who relocated to the Algarve in Oct. 2020. I've been navigating the Portuguese residence and tax system ever since and have my NIF, EU residence registration and Non-Habitual Residence status (which will be linked to one or more high value-added professions).

I want to understand my tax status especially in terms of filing. Here are my questions (quite a few!):

Do I need to fill in the Modelo 3 annexo L form and return it the tax office with proof of my high value-added professions OR wait till this is asked of me? I'm yet to earn income (since December 2020) both here or abroad so not sure what evidence to show. I can provide my academic degrees though.

Do I need to file an annual tax return between 1st April-30th June 2021 even though I have not earned any income? (I became tax resident in December 2020.)

I started out registered as a freelancer under the simplified regime. Do I also need to submit quarterly tax returns / proof of earnings, and by when please? And does my NHR status now mean that I can no longer benefit from 70% tax free income per year and nil VAT in the 1st year for <€10K earnings (under the simplified regime)?

I haven't registered with the Seguranca Social yet, until I have proof of earnings - is this sensible?

Finally - can anyone recommend any reputable and affordable English-speaking tax & accounting firms that I can consult for on-going support (so I have a beneficial and aligned tax structure in place)? I just saved myself from being ripped off by a firm offering to submit my NHR application at a rate of €500 + VAT. Good thing I took a moment to do my research which revealed that all I had to do was check two boxes and click submit on the Portal das Financas!

Any Qs please ask - and thanks for the support!
