While preparing my first tax return in Portugal, I have encountered a little filing pickle. It's been said and known that, before one files one's on-line tax return to the PT Tax Authorities, there's an option to test-run, aka to simulate, what's been prepared to see the final outcome: taxes to be paid, refund, if any, etc. With the NHR (Annex L) and foreign income other than pensions (Annex J), the simulation is rejected (for exactly these reasons: existence of foreign income other than pensions and/or NHR in place). Does anyone know another way to make a realistic simulation with those Annexes as part of the tax return: a software of some sort or a website perhaps? The simulators I have found all seem to be geared towards Portuguese residents with neither income from abroad nor NHR.
