Titulo de FRes. renewal with AIMA

Hi,
Could anyone please advise how to go about renewing a Titulo de Residencia and whether a change of address is indeed required?
Today, I went to an AIMA office to update the address. The clerk told me that the only way is through an appointment done through an e-mail-like request online or through the published phone umber (that replies with nothing other than "you have reached AIMA; our website address is aima.gov.pt). He (an AIMA employee!!!) lamented about his wife's renewal experience when she, who lives in Faro, was given a renewal appointment at the AIMA office in ...Bragança - 6-7 hours away! SEF and, now, AIMA seem to disregard proximity to one's abode in favor of busying underworked agencies.
If one has to update the address and, later on, within 9-10 months, face the prospect of renewing the Titulo for another term, wouldn't it be more prudent to eschew updating the address by (kind of) violating the 2-month address update requirement and just to renew the Titulo notifying AIMA of the new address at the renewal procedure? Has anyone updated their addresses or renewed the Titulo with AIMA recently? What was the experience? How far from the place of residence did AIMA schedule the renewal interview? How many months in advance did you have to make the renewal appointment and how long did it take to schedule it?
Thank you!
