Healthcare and pre-existing conditions in Portugal/Algarve/Lagos

My wife recently went through a battle with cancer, but is cancer free and very healthy at the moment. Of course it's only been a year. We are wondering if we would be able to get healthcare insurance, public or private? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
