First things first

I have a dream.

Although it could be a nightmare. I want to retire or semi retire to Portugal. I haven't started ANY processes yet.

1) I don't know yet what visa to apply for, nothing seems like an exact fit.
2) My general impression is to move to the mid to upper areas of the country
3) I would like to find a QUIET place to rent long term out from the city
4) I think I've read / heard that I have to schedule an appointment at an Embassy etc in the USA for the application. There is not one anywhere near to me. So I will have to fly to someplace, stay in hotel, Uber etc.
5) It seems like a daunting amount of things to be done in order to get any type visa, and so many things pre lined up such as housing . . . and can't put the cart before the horse.

I know there are folks that offer relocation advice / services and I've reached out to a couple.

If anyone has information or advice to share, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you in some manner.

Where to start? What checklists? All the Who What Why Where and Whens.

Thanks in advance, much appreciated!
