Elderly gay Portugal

As a 64 year old soon to be retired gay physician from Oklahoma, US, I'm planning to retire to Portugal and would appreciate any input of where older gay retirees might congregate. I've never restricted my world to "gay" and don't intend to start now now but would like to know where I might find like people, both local and expat for friendships. I realize getting a connection in a new place will be important so any advice is really appreciated.
