Best Places for Live Music and Food

I'm sure that Lisbon has good live music and food, but was wondering also about Porto and even if there are coastal towns that might be be bustling but have a live music scene. I read that there are some surf towns in Portugal and am wondering if they are "sleepy" or do they actually have some fun stuff going on? Just need enough so it's not too quiet and some variation in the restaurants, etc. It would also be nice to be close to Lisbon or another city if we end up not living in one. Glad to be here!
