Working in Qatar

I am in the process of applying for work in Qatar and may be shortlisted. It will be a two year contract with the Goverment - urban planning and other issues.

I have a family with a five year old daughter and a 1 month baby.

Could anybody give me clarity on things such as :

1. Work conditions in the City?
2. Standards of Education and Health?
3. Laws which need to be adhered to?
4. Reasonable package to be expected.
5. Any pitfalls which I should look out for.
6. Security for westerners working in Qatar.

I have mixed feelings about going as I have a young family. I think it would be a great expereince but have a lot of reservations about rumours and comments I have heard of work conditions in the Middle East as well as strict laws and severe punishments and imprisonment etc.

Any help will be truly apprciated.

Ciao
Franco
