Ah, the big move...help!

Howdy folks,

Like many before me, I've made the decision to ride out the recession in Qatar. I've recently been offered a new role in financial services and planning to join in January 2012. I'm a Canadian, single and looking to establish some early contacts to ease with the transition.

I'm a pretty active guy, spend most of my down time doing sporty stuff - jogging, spinning, swimming, etc; arts, entertaining, so on. I'm hoping to get some feedback on suggestions on clubs, community groups and places to keep an active social life. I've heard that it's great for families, but worried that I may find it hard to meet people as a single guy?

Help! Crossing my fingers that this will be a nice transition!
