Civil marraige Vs Nikah

Hi all.
I`ll appreciate anyone`s help and input regarding the following dilemma. I am planning to move to Qatar from the UK for a new job, my partner and my child will be moving with me.
My partner and I haven`t had a civil marriage here in the UK but instead we had the Islamic equivalent called the Nikah. Would this be a problem in Qatar?
I`ve checked few leads on the internet and I was led to believe that this might be a problem.
