Living in Bucharest

I am currently being woo'd to take a senior executive post in Bucharest for what I consider to be a relatively small salary compared to what the post brings in the US. Can anyone tell me what living conditions are in Bucharest? And how the cost of living compares to any major city in the US. Also, generally what the exec-ex-pat life is like. The assignment is for a year, and the adventure lures, but I want some kind of realistic picture of rents and groceries, and taxis and restaurants. All help and advice is welcome.
