Riyadh - Up to date answers

OK I have been offered a senior managerial post at the airport.

I have read many posts here but they are getting on in age so I'm not sure of the information in them, hence I ask a question that has probably been asked a hundred times in the past (indeed I found a few but they were a bit old).

I have asked many questions of the proposed employer but he seems to skirt over them and doesn't give direct answers - I am assuming that this is the Saudi way - or maybe not - somebody here may be able to advise.

I am a UK national from birth but am also a muslim so I don't care about the 'social' aspects, the Saudi way actually suits me and I have visited the kingdon 3 times now, they have some 'ideas' though that concern me but on the whole I find being there no problem but I have read some horror stories .... some of the Saudi rules such as the veil are not entirely Islamic but are culturally based, my wife covers but I'll never accept the veil for her - guess they wouldn't want to hear this though.

My wife will be coming with me and I have been told my accomodation allowance will be 50,000 SAR - is this good?

I plan to insist on a compound with gym and Pool facilities etc - is this a reasonable demand?

I have been told the salary will be 12k SAR per month plus 4x4car plus health cover, is this good? (I am a very senior engineer / consulting engineer in the IT world with 15 years experience)

I believe that leasing cars is expensive and this is what the company plan to do - should I suggest that they give me the money they would otherwise spend then buy and run my own?

If I have these details written into the contract what redress do I have if the company renage on or try to renegotiate the deal?

How much hassle is it bringing all my text books and novels?

How much hassle is it to bring all my DVD's, VHS tapes and CD's?

How much hassle will I get for the DVD's and CD's full of software?

What about bringing my custom built PC - will they try to take it apart or destroy my hard drives?

The company has said the contract is two years but that they will likely renew anyway at the end of this period as this is normal Saudi practice - is this true?

My wife is a teacher of IT to 13 to 17 year olds will she be able to work? (I worry that she will go stir crazy at home all day)

What is the issue regarding driving and 'liability'?

Any advice available gratefully accepted .....

Thanks in advance.
