Hi, all. This is my first post and I hope I do better then @llo’ Expat. Had no replies.

Firstly, a happy new year to you all. There is a chance I will be offered a job in Riyadh and would like some kind soul to give me a few pointers. I am white, British born and breed with a broad cockney accent. I have a million and one questions but will keep it to the important ones for now. Here goes.
1. As I will probably be paid in Riyals or US dollars how do you get the money back to the UK?
2. I have been told that if I am out of the UK for a tax year and do not return home for more then 91 days in that year I do not have to pay UK Income Tax. Is that correct?
3. Which is the best compound for ‘Brits’? I will be on my own so will only need a one bedroom apartment.
4. Should you drive yourself? I have been told it’s a drama. Someone told me to get a local Phillipino to drive me for about $300 @ month. Correct?
5. Communication. What TV can you get? Satellite TV from USA? What about broadband and the internet? Read that Blackberry’s are made to stop working. True?

That will do for now. If I start to get some replies I will ask some more if you don’t mind.
