Single male accommodation

I will be arriving in Riyahd in the New Year and would like some help from those that have already made the journey.
Should I stay in a compound or outside?
I will be working close to the Holiday Inn at Al Izdihar. I have no idea where that is in respect to anywhere else!!!!!!
Has anyone created a map of the compounds for ease of reference?
Has anyone moved into a compound from outside accommodation if so for what reason?
Or gone from a compound to the outside?
I have 35 to 40,000SAR available so what will that get me.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
