Housing and cars!

I am still looking for a suitable property to rent. Have booked a hotel initially. Want to be really near Al Faisaliah tower - in Al Olaya-ideally walking distance due to the traffic!
Any tips or suggestions re this would be great.
Also plan to buy a car (4x4) so any ideas or pitfalls to avoid?
